ANANTA Workshops are custom designed for individuals who wish to deepen or advance their yoga practice in a supported group environment.
Our workshops serve as mini intensives to deepen student's understanding of yoga through applied physical and philosophical modalities. Workshops build insight, awareness, and confidence on and off the mat, understanding that yoga is something we live...not just something we do.
Take a journey into self discovery while learning the science and traditions behind trauma informed yoga practices. This workshop will provide each participant a look into the brain and how the body responds to traumatic events, evidence based research, a healing yoga practice.
Faith Martin is a Marine spouse of over 26 years. Her yoga practice began more than 14 years ago when her husband deployed for Iraq. With the presence that her yoga practice afforded her during this unstable time she found her passion and wanted to share it with others.
In 2010 Faith began her journey into helping those that have experienced trauma. Upon accepting the position of Fitness Director for 10,000 Okinawa Marines in 2015, she initiated ongoing yoga and meditation programs in conjunction with the Naval Hospital Okinawa and their mental health programs. She provided yoga and meditation to the mental health outpatient program for PTS, the Physical Therapy Department and Chronic Pain Management Clinic, Behavioral Health Substance Abuse Program, and to caregivers for the hospital such as staff and family members and the newly formed Wounded Warriors Program in Okinawa.
Faith believes we are all blessed with unique qualities and physical differences, fitness and yoga allows every person a way to express these gifts in every breath and movement. Awareness is essential in all walks of life; we can captivate this mindset through movement and bring it forth in every action so we might enjoy life to its fullest.
“As a survivor of domestic violence, yoga has brought me the greatest healing. Faith’s work with trauma informed yoga practice was integral to my own recovery, which ultimately inspired me to teach. Were it not for Faith, I would not have found my calling to share and teach yoga as a healing modality.” —Leila A. Fortier
